Mediation rules

At the clubmeeting 2008 new rules was decided:


Under the headline No 1: Both the bitch and male has got approved huntingmerits

Under the headline No 2: Either the bitch or male has got approved huntingmerits

Under the headline No 3: None of the parents has got approved huntingmerits


The criterias that must be fulfilled before a litter can be submitted to our mediation for puppies are as follows:

  • Both parents must be at least 24 mounths old when the mating takes place.
  • Both parents must have cleared hips (i.e UA, A or B).
  • Both parents must have cleared eyes within 12 months prior to the mating.
  • If the dog has got the elbows x-rayed it must be UA (0).
  • The breeding stock shall not be any closer related than cousins, that means that the inbreeding coefficient should not exceed 6.25% over five generations.
  • Litters by a stud dog who has sired 10 litters or more will not be mediated.
  • A combination that is repeated for the third time will not be mediated.
  • The owner/owners of the bitch should have been a member of the Swedish Toller Club for at least a year when the litter is born.
  • The bitch must have a 1st prize at official conformation (the Swedish Toller specialty included until 2003) at the minimum age of 15 months.
  • The male must ha either a 1st prize at official conformation (the Swedish Toller specialty included until 2003) at the minimum age of 15 months OR at least one apporved huntingmerit.

Approved huntingmerits are:

  • Passed the Swedish Tollerclub's Retrievetest (or some kind of Basic Retrievetest), judged by a person approved of the Field Trial counsellor in the Tollerclub.
  • Prize at unofficial field trial/Tollingtest arranged by the Swedish Toller Club with cold game
  • Prize at the Swedish Spaniel and Retriever Club's official field trial with cold game
  • Prize at a official field trial/hunting test in foreign country with cold game
